One of the things that leads to competitions finishing late is the lack of referees.
One of the major complaints at competitions is the lack of referees or poor refereeing techniques.
The Southwest Region of British Fencing is intending to run a refereeing course (1 day + 1 assessment) (or courses if the need is there).
This is open to fencers and parents alike who would like to help increase the overall standard of referees within the region. So if you have ever had that niggling thought that maybe the referee wasnt right , or that you could do better please read on and get involved.Pass this by and there is really no excuse !
As you know I like to keep an eye on the world of fencing in general. So here in case you missed it is European and World Veteran medallist Connie Adam appearing as the mystery guest on last week's episode of Russell Howard's Good News
Waitrose Community Fund
Wellington Swords Fencing Club were lucky enough to be one of the Waitrose Community Fund Recipients. The 'little green discs' provided a talking point for weeks amongst club members and friends and there was great competition to see who handed in the most each week!
We wish to say a huge thank you to both the partners and shoppers at Waitrose for the £330.00 received by the club. It will be spent on new safety equipment and the club's school fencing programme.
About Us
Wellington Swords are a large and friendly fencing club for all ages specialising in foil and epee.We are based at the Princess Royal Sports center in Wellington, Somerset and train throughout the week with a professional Hungarian fencing coach. We fence and participate at all levels.
As well as our weekly training sessions we run several beginners courses throughout the year.We have also a full schedule of both competitive and friendly fixtures and numerous social activities.
The emphasis is on enjoyment and self improvement even though we do remarkably well in competition at both national and international level.
Coaches and club staff are all CSB trained and registered.
We always welcome new members. So if you are an old hand returning to the sport or have never picked up a sword before you will be made equally welcome.
Why not get in contact either through the enquiry form on this site or by giving one of the committee a call to discuss how you can get into this exciting and dynamic sport.
